About the Artist
To understand the art, you must first understand the artist. Fobo Design is built on principles of creativity, individuality, freedom, and love. My name is Tommy Hammons and I am the graphic designer behind Fear of Being Ordinary. I attend Westminster University in Salt Lake City, Utah. I play soccer and study physics along with work for the athletic media department as the head graphic designer.
Origins
Throughout highschool, I had the same group of friends. I loved them because we were free. We could express ourselves any way we wanted. Some of my friends made videos, some made music, some played sports. I dove into graphic design. It started as a skill I used to help my friends, but as evolved into the work I do now.
In those years, everything I created was inspired by the people around me. My friends would hand me an idea, and I’d try to capture their energy visually. A song cover might turn into a colorful collage of textures and emotion; a video thumbnail could evolve into a bold, cinematic composition. Every project became a reflection of who we were: young, expressive, and determined to stand out.
When I started Fobo Design, I wanted it to carry that same spirit of freedom. The name “Fear of Being Ordinary” came from the realization that I never wanted to create something that blended in or felt lifeless. I wanted my work to challenge the ordinary and remind people that their creativity has no limits.
My Process
My process is deeply personal. I design from emotion and memory, small moments that stick with me: the colors of a sunset after a long day, the glow of a computer screen while staying up late to finish a project, the laughter of my friends as they shared their art. These moments fuel my creative energy and shape how I see the world. When I design, I’m not just making something visual, I’m recreating how a memory felt.
A Love for Design
Graphic design, to me, is more than an art form. It’s a way to tell stories that words alone can’t capture. Each project is a chance to express my own sense of freedom, to build something that carries emotion and individuality. Whether I’m crafting graphics, designing posters, creating logos, or developing a branding identity, my goal is to connect my past with the present, to create something that feels alive and extraordinary.
In the end, Fobo Design is more than just a brand. It’s an ongoing reflection of who I am and the memories that made me. I design what makes me feel free, and I base every piece I create on the experiences and emotions that continue to shape my life. That’s what makes each design uniquely mine, honest, personal, and unforgettable.
